TTG – Cape Cod alumni move up to the Majors!

A couple more players that we followed in 2003, and appear in Touching The Game, The Story of The Cape Cod Baseball League, have been called up to the Major Leagues.  Sam Fuld, who was called up to the Chicago Cubs briefly in September of 2007, is once again roaming the outfield of Wrigley. Fuld, who was injured for most of 2008, was on a tear for (AAA) Iowa before being promoted.  He played for the Hyannis Mets of the CCBL on 2003. The Phillies have bolstered their outfield by calling up John Mayberry from (AAA) Lehigh Valley.  Mayberry and his father, former MLB player John Mayberry Sr., both appear in Touching The Game.  It is  Mayberry’s first time in the Majors, and he already has hit four home runs.  He was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers, but was traded to the Phillies this past off-season.  Mayberry played at the Cape for Yarmouth-Dennis in 2003.  He and Sam Fuld were teammates at Stanford.
