The annual Cape Cod League All-Star game will be played on Saturday 7/28/07 in Wareham, MA. This is always a big event as the Cape League’s best show their stuff in front of pro scouts and thousands of fans. The game is preceded by a home run hitting contest and other festivities. It will be televised locally on NESN (tape-delayed) and on ESPN 360 on the web. Wareham is where Tampa Bay Devil Rays 1st baseman Carlos Pena made his mark, a summer that propelled him to the 1st round of the MLB draft. This year, Pena is having his finest season in the Major Leagues. He tells his Cape League story in “Touching The Game, The Story of the Cape Cod Baseball League”. We had quite a day in Anchorage on the 4th, filming the annual double-header between the Glacier Pilots and the Bucs. The crowd was huge, and the atmosphere was electric. The Pilots unveiled two different Independence Day uniforms. The teams split the twin-bill, and the evening was capped off by the legendary “Griz” Fireworks show. Stay tuned for a video from the day, which will be posted some time in the near future. We have shot some terrific baseball in the past week in Palmer, Fairbanks, and Anchorage. We will have more posts on our recent trip soon.
